Purchasing Information

Pricing for Original Works

My works range in size from 3" x 5" up to 30" x 40" and from $550 up to $15,000. Each piece of artwork is priced based on a number of factors including size, the time that an individual work takes, cost of supplies and cost of framing. Occasionally works may be available un-framed if they have never been exhibited or are recently completed. Once a work is framed I will not unframe it for purchase.

For online purchases I accept PayPal, as it helps to protect both buyer and seller. If you prefer not to use PayPal please e-mail and we can work out another option. All payments must be made in US Dollars. I do not work without outside shipping companies not arranged by me. Payment must be made for exact amount due. Payments made with personal check or money order must clear the bank before any artwork is shipped.

I do offer an interest free layaway payment plan for people that want to purchase original artwork, but can not afford to purchase it all at once. Click the link to the left to learn more.

Shipping Original Artwork

Shipping costs are on top of the price for the original artwork. Artwork is shipped with either UPS or USPS depending on the size of the box. If you have a Fed-ex or UPS account the shipping can be billed directly to your account, or it is added to the cost of the artwork. Original artwork is shipped insured and requires a signature at delivery.

For small businesses, shipping prices have gone up significantly in recent years. I generally just charge my actual cost for insurance and shipping, but this can still be significant (especially for international). I am happy to provide a shipping estimate in advance.

International Shipping

I use regular mail service (USPS and UPS) to ship art all over the world. When shipping to collectors outside the U.S., quite often the maximum possible insurance is $500 (in some cases less). When the value of the artwork exceeds the available amount of insurance, you should consider the following options:

1. Accepting the Risk. In this case, you pay the standard shipping fee and we insure the art for the maximum amount allowable by that carrier. If the art is damaged or lost, you are responsible for the amount of loss exceeding the amount insured. In other words, we can only refund you the amount we can recover from the insurer. By paying us the standard shipping fee, you are accepting all risks beyond the amount of insurance the postal carrier will sell us for that package.

2. Private Insurance. It is possible for you to purchase private shipping insurance for your artwork before it is shipped. This is done at the purchasers expense. There are various online companies that provide this type of service.

Although I cannot guarantee the arts safety in transit, every effort is made to package the artwork so that it will minimize the change of damage. I can tell you that over the past few years I have shipped works of art to other countries, and the frequency of loss or damage has been very low. Nevertheless, it is important for you to understand the risk you take with shipping.

Artwork shipped outside of the United States will have additional customs fees, taxes and tariffs assessed by the postal carrier. These rates can be quite high and are charged by the country of destination. They are independent and IN ADDITION to any price that I quote you and are the sole responsibility of the purchaser. In some cases they may be as high as 30% of the price of the artwork, so please be prepared for these expenses if you choose to purchase artwork and live outside of the USA!

Purchasing Prints

Please read this page to learn about purchasing prints. While I do still use paypal, I now create an individual invoice reflecting shipping costs and making sure that I have the print in inventory. Prints can take two to four weeks to be received, since they are printed with a third part on demand.

Satisfaction Guarantee

I do everything I can to show my artwork on my web site as close as possible to the way that it looks in real life. However, if for any reason, you are not satisfied with your purchase, just notify me within 14 days of the arrival of the artwork and once the artwork is returned to me I will gladly refund you the purchase price (minus the shipping/insurance costs). The artwork and framing must be returned to me in the same condition that it was sent to you in. If you like the artwork, but not the framing, unfortunately re-framing the work is at the purchasers expense. I am happy to send a photo of any artwork in the frame prior to the purchase.

Availability of Original Works

Artworks marked as available on my web site usually are, however occasionally I am behind on updating my web site and a work may have recently sold or a sale may be pending. At other times I may have works that are committed to upcoming exhibits or away at an exhibit. In this circumstance works can usually be purchased from the exhibition or you can ask to be notified after the show if the work does not sell. Please feel free to e-mail to inquire as to the availability of any artwork. Works at galleries for long term will be noted on that works individual page with a link to the gallery. Please contact the gallery directly to purchase those works (though feel free to tell them you found them through my web site!)
